On the 6th of May, 2000 I headed over to Hillsboro, thence to Washington to meet with some other four wheelers in NEMAC (New England Mog Appreciation Club) and NEJO (New England Jeep Owners)
|
On the way in the morning saw some geese in Hillsboro. |
We stopped in Hillsboro village to compare the Unimog to a Mitsubishi. Hi Jeff! (On the right) If you wonder why the Mog is setting a little low in the rear, it's because it has a pile of our Northern
Gateway Chamber of Commerce business and tourism guides in the rear to be delivered to the Canterbury NH rest
area. I had planned on dropping half of them at the Hooksett rest area, but they weighted down the Mog so much,
that along with a blustery head wind slowing the Mog, I barely made it to work on time. Another problem was on
the way to Hillsborough the fuel selector valve which had been acting up on the trip down finally completely stopped
the flow of gas. Made a new packing, and the next day on the way to Canterbury bypassed it with 3/8 inch hose.
Next up NH Route 9 and north on NH 31.
One of the first things you see after the turn is the
President Franklin Pierce House.

Then a right on East Washington Road...
Turning left at the Hall. |

And left at the "finger sign".

Emu at Eccardt's Farm. |
I stopped at Eccardt's Farm for directions and chatted with Hans Eccardt for a while. He grew up about 10 miles from the Unimog factory in Germany! Was quite interested in the Mog.
|
Apparently Eccardt's dog heard something coming before we did.
The group of 4 wheelers were coming... Drat! The dreaded disk
error... lost the pictures on that disk. Oh well, you can click
below to see the second half of the ride.
